ABOUT HANDY LINK (HandyLink.exe)
Handy Spell's install procedure will install an extra executable file in Handy Spell's directory (folder), namely HandyLink.exe (normally in C:\Program Files\Handy Spell but this may be different on your system).
When running, Handy Link will put an icon in your operating system's icon tray (ie: the Windows95/NT40 icon tray on the taskbar). If you right-click on this icon you will have a menu displayed to you from where you can run Handy Spell (double-clicking on the tray icon is a shortcut for running Handy Spell).
The main reason for providing HandyLink.exe is so that you can place a shortcut in your 'StartUp' folder to automatically run HandyLink.exe on system startup to make Handy Spell always easily available via the operating system's icon tray (HandyLink.exe uses only a negligible amount of system resources whilst running).
Below is an edited extract of Window95's help file on how to make a program run automatically on startup (ie: create a shortcut link to HandyLink.exe in the Start Menu's StartUp directory):
To start a program each time Windows starts:
1) Click the Start button, and then point to Settings.
2) Click Taskbar, and then click the Start Menu Programs tab.
3) Click Add, and then click Browse.
4) Locate the program you want to start, and then double-click it.
(HandyLink.exe normally found in C:\Program Files\Handy Spell but this may be different on your system)
5) Click Next, and then double-click the StartUp folder (directory).
6) Type the name that you want to see on the StartUp menu, and then click Finish.
* If Windows prompts you to choose an icon, click one, and then click Finish.
NOTE:
If you created a shortcut link to HandyLink.exe, be aware that if you uninstall Handy Spell, the shortcut link to HandyLink does not get automatically removed, but you must remove it manually yourself (not needed if you are going to re-install another copy of Handy Spell).
